About the Faculty

The Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMC) is an original, and within the Czech Republic, a unique higher education institution, which provides higher education in degree programmes in Media and Communication Studies and Visual Arts. One of the nine specializations of the latter is taught at the Film School Zlín Ltd.

Degree programmes at the FMC involve two stages. This means that students first graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (standard length of studies: 3 years) and can then continue in a follow-up Master’s programme (standard length of studies: 2 years).

All degree programmes consistently follow the principles of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). This enables students to spend part of their studies at other higher education institutions, especially those abroad. These study periods are recognized as regular parts of their studies when they return.

Degree programmes support individual student profiling by means of obligatory facultative and optional subjects. Students can to a certain extent choose and modify the pace of their studies according to their abilities and the time available. A temporary interruption of studies is also possible.

Apart from their degree certificate, graduates also receive a Diploma Supplement in English, introduced under the auspices of the European Union and the UNESCO, aiming to improve graduates’ position in the European labour market. The Faculty produces excellent and talented graduates who work successfully in communications and advertising agencies, in the field of public relations or organization of exhibitions, in both profit and non-profit sectors. Studios within the degree programme Visual Arts prepare future workers in professional film and animation studios and TV companies, specialists in graphic or industrial design, footwear and fashion design, advertising photography and 3D design. The Faculty owns studios with top-quality equipment and utilities. Students at the FMC receive maximum support from the Faculty and are actively encouraged to apply their own ideas and develop their skills and creative abilities.
