Novell user accounts
A Novell/TBU Portal login is created for each new user (student). You will receive account details (username/password) from the International Department, if not, please contact TBU IZT Services Department at network@utb.cz (Building U13, Room 219). When logging into Novell as a student, please make sure that you are choose the right context (FMK-ST.UTB) after clicking on the "Advanced" button/link in the Novell login dialog. You can change your Novell/TBU Portal/e-mail password at any time at https://passwd.utb.cz . Use your Novell/TBU Portal credentials when logging in at http://portal.utb.cz. Please remember that if you change your Portal password, this automatically means that you have changed your Novell login password (i. e. the one you are using for logging into Windows workstations)!
E-mail
A new Novell/TBU Portal account automatically means a new e-mail address username@fmk.utb.cz. You can access your university e-mail at https://webmail.utb.cz .
Mail client setup (Outlook, Thunderbird...) - POP3 or IMAP
Incoming mail server (POP3 or IMAP): imap.utb.cz. Use Novell/TBu Portal username and password. The incoming mail server requires SSL (port 993 for IMAP, port 995 for POP3). The outgoing SMTP server is smtp.utb.cz. Please install the TBU mail server certificate from http://web.utb.cz/CA .
Wireless
You can use wireless in all TBU buildings, provided you first register here (Novell/UTB Portal login is required to access the registration form). The SSID is "eduroam". If you need help with registration or setup please contact Mr Pavel Krutil at krutil@fmk.utb.cz (Building U4, Room 210).
Apple users (MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad...): there is a configuration script available for download here [786 B]
. Download, unzip and install using System Preferences (please note that you will get a warning that the script is unsigned). Do not forget to register first for the wireless network here! After connecting to the wireless network with the SSID of "eduroam" you will be asked to provide your credentials (your username in the format <login>@utb.cz and the password you selected when registering).
Domain logins in U4
Unlike other faculties of the TBU, the FMC (buildings U4, U44, and U16) employs a domain logins system for its student workstations. Your initial username/password for the FMK domain is set to match your initial Novell/TBU Portal login credentials (you can change the domain password here). Your home directory on the FMC data server has an initial capacity of 25GB and is accessible from any student Windows computer at the FMC (mapped as drive "W"), by FTP at ftp://data.fmk.utb.cz, or using the HTTPS protocol at https://data.fmk.utb.cz . The shared folders (including your home directory) on the data server of the FMC can also be accessed by browsing to Network>(FMK)>Data (the path may vary depending on the OS you are using, using “\\Data” as the path in the Windows Explorer address bar is probably the safest bet).
Student Cards
Your TBU student card can be used for paying for meals at the Refectory, printing using the SafeQ system and provides access to certain parts of the buildings of the FMC. If you cannot use your card properly please contact Mr Pavel Krutil at krutil@fmk.utb.cz.
Photocopying, scanning, and printing at TBU
You can use a SafeQ multifunction machines, located on the ground floor of building U44 (other SafeQ multifuctionals are located in other buildings of the TBU). Payment is made by your student card which can be charged at the Refectory cash desk (U43) or in special card charging machines (one of which is located in the lobby of the University Centre (U13).
Printing at the FMC
The FMC Print Centre, located in Room 103 in the lobby of the main building of the FMC, is equipped with two 42-inch EPSON 9900 plotters, one 24-inch EPSON 7800 plotter, connected to an EFI Fiery XF software RIP, and a laminating machine. If the printer queues (the names of which start with “EFI Epson...”) are not installed on the workstation you are printing from, browse to Network, then to the FMK workgroup and open a workstation called Printcentrum (if installing a printer on a Mac, browse for the queues in Windows>fmk>printcentrum. You may be asked for your domain username and password). After double-clicking a selected print queue, a PostScript driver should be installed automatically. You must pay for your prints before picking them up. The Cash Office of TBU is located on the ground floor of building U13.
For printing black–and–white and colour documents (up to size A3), you can also use the SafeQ network printer Ricoh Aficio 3224C PCL6, located in the lobby of building U44 (Department of Marketing Communications). This printer is installed on all student workstations at the FMC running Windows. Please note that in order to print to this printer, you need to be logged into the Novell Network and have your Student Card ready when picking up your prints. Your Student Card also needs to hold sufficient credit. Cards can be charged at the Refectory (Dining Hall) or in the lobby of building U13 (ground floor of the main rectorate building, close to room U13/113 to the left of the main entrance, next to soft drink machines). SafeQ printer queues can be monitored here (use your Novell/TBU Portal credentials to log in).
