Mr Moudilou Mouanga Berjo Ange-Ernest, 2^nd year student at the Graphic Design Studio, won the 1^st prize in the international competition for the best poster designed on the occasion of the 7^th anniversary of the film festival held in Tarifa (Spain). The competition was focusing on the 50^th anniversary of independence celebrated in most of the African states. The festival will take place between 21 and 29 May 2010. Congratulations on this extraordinary international success!

We would like to invite you to attend the opening day of the joint international exhibition of photographs by Dr. Piotr Muschalik and MgA. Jan Jindra, teachers from ASP Katowice and the TBU Faculty of Multimedia Communications respectively. The event is scheduled to take place in the "Alternativa" Cultural Centre in Zlín at 18:00 on Wednesday, 10 February 2010. The exhibition will be on view until 27 February 2010.

An exhibition showing works by students at the Department of Visual Arts is on view in the lobby next to the conference hall of the Senate of the Czech Republic in Prague between 19 January and 1 February 2010.

Students of the Department of Advertising Photography were successful in the prestigious international photography contest “FRAME009” for the third time in a row. We would like to congratulate the students on their accomplishments in this year’s edition:

• In the SHOW category – 1^st place - Jakub Jurdič (3^rd year) – “Lucie” collection, 3^rd place - Tereza Vlčková (5^th year) – “Mirrors inside” collection
• In the VZTAH (RELATION) category – 3^rd place - Jakub Skokan and Martin Tůma (both 5^th year) – “Na pasekách nehoří” collection.

Do not miss the opportunity to watch student films to be displayed on Tuesday, 15^th December 2009 - the best films made by students of audio vision at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at TBU in Zlín. The event starts in the hall at “Velké kino” (Grand Cinema) in Zlín at 19:30, the entry is free! We would like to invite all students, teachers and the public as well.

As in the previous years, this year again the promotional campaign for Miss Academia of the Czech Republic 2010 is getting under way in December, this time – unlike last year - with entries allowed to be made not only by full-time but also by part-time female students under 26 years of age. The TBU Christmas Tree will be illuminated again, and that in front of the U2 building of Tomas Bata University in Zlín at Mostní Street at 17:00 on Wednesday, 9^th December 2009. The visitors can look forward to the performance to be given by the brass quintet of Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, carol singing and meeting St. Nicholas. The entry is free. At 18:00 the projection of the fairy-tale movie “Give the Devil His Due“ will start in the Wichterle Hall (U2 building).

We would like to invite you to attend another event held within the project “Dumb Creature” – the traditional "Christmas in the Animal Shelter", to take place for the second time in the Animal Shelter in Zlín-Vršava at 17:00 on 9^th December 2009. Just like last year, everyone will be enabled to contribute to pet food, vaccines and to the operation of this animal home by buying a Christmas ball. Besides, the visitors will be able to enjoy hot tea, delicious mulled wine, sweet-smelling gingerbread and Christmas carols sung by children. Come to visit dogs and cats and prepare a very merry Christmas for them!

Tomas Bata University in Zlin cordially invites all those interested in studying at TBU to attend the Open Door Days to be held on:
13^th November 2009 – at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (degree programmes “Visual Arts” and “Audiovisual Arts – Theory and Practice” only)
11^th December 2009 and 22^nd January 2010 at the remaining faculties (i.e. Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Management and Economics, Faculty of Multimedia Communications - degree programme “Media and Communication Studies” only), Faculty of Applied Informatics, Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management (with its seat in Uherské Hradiště). The respective faculties will give one-hour presentations at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00. The visitors will be shown around the buildings and also enabled to see the equipment.

Information for students on the opening hours in the University buildings U41 and U42 (Štefánikova 2431, Zlín) during 2009 summer holiday:

Monday – Friday	6.30am – 10pm
Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays	8am – 8pm

The premises will be closed to students from 20 July to 16 August 2009.
