Department of Advertising Photography and Graphic Design

The Department of Advertising Photography and Graphic Design together with other departments provides tuition in the study programme Visual Arts, in the field of Multimedia and Design.

During their study, graphic designers become familiar with the whole spectrum of graphic design. Tuition focuses on typefaces and typography, corporate design, design of logotypes and brands, architecture of books and other periodicals, posters, billboards, packaging, information graphics, web design, or CD-ROM mastering. It also includes computer-aided design, mastering of elementary graphic software, print production, prepress and other tools of the trade, necessary in applied art. A BA graduate in graphic design is an experienced graphic communicator, capable to immediately start working with clients and experts on marketing communications. Students of MA studies focus on perfecting their knowledge in the field of arts and communications, and the exploring of new trends in the field.

The future advertising photographers receive theoretical and above all practical education to become independent professional authors, who have mastered the craft of photography and all its artistic principles. The study includes professional mastering of b&w and colour photography in negative, positive, slide, and computer processing. Topics include coverage, documentary, arranged photography, photography of small objects and architecture, landscape photography, portrait, fashion photography, theatre, film and industrial photography, illustration, posters, photographs for photo journals and books. These are the main fields of focus of BA studies. Students of MA programmes develop this knowledge providing deeper insight and higher degree of professionalism.

The basic feature of tuition is its focus on advertising and special attention paid to communication and cooperation with experts on marketing communication with stress on paying respect the profession of the others. Another important aspect is the effort to familiarize students with contemporary trends in the field of communication technologies and visual arts applied in advertising.
